colourful rationale / origin story

Hello there!

Late last March, when my world has taken an unfortunate downfall and I had to give my perspective on life a major face-life, I found out that the mundane activity of colouring, something I used to do as a little kid, is the one of the funniest, most relaxing things to do. It is a calming way to channel any anxiety and a productive way to see the artistic, visual result of trying to cool off any unwelcome feelings.

Months later, once I had finally become what my cousin calls "gainfully employed," I walked over to a nearby Staples to purchase a sketchbook, fragrantly fruity Mr. Sketch markers, and black sketch pens during my lunch break. It was merely an act of boredom to kill time, not knowing what else to do after finishing my lunch. I originally did not intend to make a project out of the sketchbook I bought; it was supposed to be a personal sketchbook for little doodles and whatnots, but little did I know that it would be a project that I would invest more time and energy in.

It all started with a simple act of boredom-induced sketchbook shopping and a co-worker casually asking me, "Can I draw in it too?" Since the end of June until now, I have been keeping a collection of drawings made by co-workers, relatives, friends, and me. This sketchblog is a collaborative product of the many lovely people I know and have met, both creative and sometimes artistically challenged, but still interesting and awesome just the same.

Welcome to the colourful world that is my sketchbook :D
